Steak and Cheese Loaded Fries: A Deliciously Messy Feast!

Sometimes, you just need a dinner that’s a flavour explosion in a bowl – salty, savoury, a touch tangy, and gloriously messy. Loaded fries are the perfect answer, but why settle for basic when you can create a masterpiece? Our Steak and Cheese Loaded Fries recipe takes your average fries and transforms them into a hearty, satisfying meal. We’re talking juicy steak strips, crisp-tender peppers and onions, melty cheese, and a good hit of burger sauce mingling with everything. Get ready for a messy, delicious, and surprisingly easy dinnertime win!

Ingredients:

  • Frozen fries (your favourite kind)
  • Steak strips (or thinly sliced leftover steak)
  • Grated cheese (cheddar, Red Leicester, or a blend)
  • One green pepper, sliced
  • A small bunch of spring onions, sliced
  • Fried onions (shop-bought or homemade)
  • Burger sauce

Instructions:

  1. Crispy Fries Frenzy: Get your fries cooked to perfection however you like them best. Oven, deep fryer, air fryer – the choice is yours!

  2. Steak Sensation in the Pan: Heat a pan over medium-high heat with a drizzle of oil. Add the sliced onions and cook until softened. Then, throw in the green peppers and spring onions for another 2-3 minutes of sizzle.

  3. Steak Time! Now’s the star’s turn. Push the veggies to the side and add your steak strips. Season them as you wish and cook until browned and beautifully juicy.

  4. Sauce it Up!  Add a generous dollop of your favourite burger sauce to the pan and stir it through the steak and veggies for a delicious coating of flavour. I used Asda Burger Sauce and it was delich, but use any similar sauce of your choice.

  5. The Great Flavour Mix-In (Optional): Here’s where you get to choose your fries destiny! You can add the cooked fries to the pan with the steak and veggies, letting them soak up all that delicious flavour. This will make them softer, but oh so tasty. Personally, I can’t resist mixing everything together – the flavours become absolutely divine! However, if you prefer your fries extra crispy, keep them separate and assemble the dish afterwards.

Add the fries directly to the pan and mix it all together, for the perfect flavour explosion!
  1. Cheese Glorious Cheese: No matter your fries choice, now’s the time for that glorious cheese. Sprinkle a generous amount of grated cheese over the pan (or your fries on the plate, if you kept them separate). Let the residual heat melt that cheese to gooey perfection.

  2. The Final Touches: Finally, pile everything onto a plate (if you mixed it all up) or arrange the fries, steak, and veggies separately. Sprinkle with those crispy fried onions, and get ready to devour this masterpiece!

Top Tips:

  • Make this Steak and Cheese Loaded Fries recipe your own! Swap the cheese, add mushrooms or jalapenos for a kick, or drizzle with hot sauce if you like things fiery.
  • No air fryer? No worries! Oven or deep fryer work perfectly for fries.
  • Leftover steak is a lifesaver here. If cooking fresh, slice it thinly and season well before adding it to the pan.
  • Finely chop the spring onions for even distribution throughout your dish.

This recipe is all about creating a flavour bomb that satisfies every craving. So grab your fork (or maybe a spoon, because things might get messy!), and enjoy!
